Open to students during the day and the public from 3:15-4:00. All paperback books are $0.50 and hard backs are $1.00.

Art Fair
Join us for the annual Art Fair showcasing the work of all of the Westwood View artists. There will be Cupini’s offered in the cafeteria for $10/person, including pasta, salad, bread and dessert. Cash or Venmo only.
Coffee Cart
Join us for a cup of coffee to celebrate the last month of school! The coffee cart will be located on the library patio if weather permits (otherwise, in the teacher’s lounge).

WV x Rainy Day Books Holiday Sip & Shop
Please join us for this exciting annual event on Monday, November 25 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Rainy Day Books!
Everyone in attendance will receive complimentary drinks and a 10% discount on their purchase. Plus, 10% of the gross amount sold during the evening will be donated to Westwood View Library!

Veterans Day Assembly
The assembly will honor veterans and those currently serving our country who are a part of the lives of Westwood View staff and students. We will have a guest speaker talk to us about what it means to serve in the military and answer any questions the kids may have about military service. Each WV family is welcome to invite a veteran in their life to attend this special assembly and a gathering of veterans with refreshments prior to the assembly at 1:30pm in the Westwood View library.
Parents are also welcome to attend the assembly with their child.

Halloween Candy Drive
Wondering how to stop eating all your kids' leftover Halloween candy? Please drop off any extra candy in the front office. We are collecting candy to set out for the teachers throughout the year when they need a quick sweet treat!
Fall Parties/Parade
The parade will begin at 2:00 pm (playground gates open at 1:50) and classroom parties will be at 2:15 pm.
Boo at WWV Carnival
Come for your favorites, but there will be new activities to love and adore!
$8 per child or $20/family. Free 5 & under (if not enrolled in WV).

Shawnee Mission Area Council PTA is hosting a screening of Backpack Full of Cash, a documentary film narrated by Matt Damon, that explores the impact of vouchers on public schools.

Reflections Art Submissions Due Soon
Attention All Westwood View Artists: The deadline for submissions to this year's district-wide "Reflections" art contest is October 25th. The 2024-2025 theme is "Embracing Imperfection".
Please email or text Whitney Logan at wrobertslogan@gmail.com / 773.331.0517 if your student would like to submit an entry.
Each entry should include an artist's statement on how their work relates to the theme.
Acceptable art mediums include: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.

Meet & Greet with KS BOE Candidates
All of us in SMSD will have a State Board of Education race on our ballot this year! Attend the upcoming meet & greet to learn about the importance of and the responsibilities of our Kansas State Board of Education. You’ll have an opportunity to hear from the candidates, meet with them, and ask questions.
WV Night at the Drive-In
Join us for the second annual Westwood View Night at the Drive-In! Tickets are $50/car. Please Venmo @WWVPTA (memo: drive-in). We will have the whole drive-in to ourselves!
Plan to arrive at 6:15 and get settled into your parking spot. You can sit in the back of your car for the movie with blankets & pillows or set up chairs to gather with friends. Before the movie starts, your kids can play on the playground, toss a football or run around with their friends. At 7:00, the dance party begins and after that, Despicable Me 4.

WV Walk/Bike to School Day
Walk, bike or roll to school today! Donuts (and a few allergy friendly options) will be available on the playground at 7:50am to enjoy after walking or biking to school.
Parents are asked to stay on premises until your child enters the school.
